Let’s pick that apart shall we? ART.
“the quality, production, expression or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance” Well, that certainly is a mouthful. I’d like to try and simplify it to it’s basic components. Art is an expression of beauty. Of course, even this simple definition has several meanings to different people. As I have only been one person for most of my life, I can only really tell you what art means to me. To me, ART IS PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING. Whether it’s paintings, sculptures, music, theatre, movies, food, or hell even washing the dishes, to me it all has its own form of beauty. People are constantly expressing themselves in the way they dress, the way they talk, the way they walk. They express their ideas of beauty on the world. By this definition everyone can be an artist. REASON. Now let’s talk about the why. Why do people do what they do? It’s no great secret that life isn’t easy. People go through hardships everyday, and why? Why do people see all that is around them, good and bad, and continue on their journey? Some people do it for other people, loved ones or friends. Some people do it for money and shiny cars. Each of those reasons are legitimate and help people get through this world. But I must include myself in another group of people who live to do art. To me this means expressing myself the best way I know how using my knowledge and skills about the world around me. What does that mean for this blog? I started this blog in order to better share some of my adventure with you. More specifically, most of my posts will center around the work and life of a young artist trying to figure out her path while living in San Antonio, Texas. Now this is my first blog, so please do have patience with my beginner level knowledge of writing online. PLANS FOR THE FUTURE I hope to be able to share with you some of my own ideas and artwork, as well as posting about different events going on through San Antonio that might make an impact on my journey.
